EGYPT I SATAYA

1 week on a luxury boat anchored in a turquoise lagoon over 2 km long on the Red Sea, home to large pods of dolphins that can be approached daily by snorkeling.

Supervised by Alexae Wittock (dolphin behaviorist), you'll have the opportunity to experience an ethical approach, and encounter these marine mammals by swimming freely in their natural habitat.

The yacht is 37 meters long and 9 meters wide, equipped with 2 outboard dinghies.
On the 1st floor, you will find 8 air-conditioned cabins with 2 single beds. Each of them have private bathroom & toilet, and provide also a mini-bar.
The 2nd floor features a large air-conditioned saloon with restaurant and TV area.
The bar for refreshing drinks and snacks, with a large “sunbathing” area for relaxing and bookending is located on the 3rd floor.
And finally, on the 4th floor, we have the upper deck where all kinds of physical activities take place, as well as nights under the stars.

How fit do I need to be ?

This group - family - couple - corporate journey in Sataya is designed with children, parents, and grandparents in mind. You don’t need any special skills or training to participate in this tour.
Anyone can try snorkeling or yoga. Just note that you need to be over the age of 12 to participate.

* If you are older than 18, you’re good to go.
* Minors older than 14 may be permitted to join the tour, but must be in the presence of a parent or legal guardian.

What do I need to bring ?

• Don't overload yourself with clothes. Most of the time, you'll be dressed in bathing clothes, sarongs and light dresses for the ladies, and short T-shirts for the men.
• Bring only your travel shoes, as you'll be barefoot on the boat.
• Essential snorkeling equipment: FINS, MASK & TUBA
• Go Pro camera or other device capable of filming/photographing underwater.
• Appropriate clothing for Yoga.
• SUP inflatable board : paddle/ wing.
• Good sun cream with SPF 30+ or even 50+ depending on your skin type. You'll be very exposed to the sun, and sunburns are “unforgiving” on the sea!
• You'll also need sunglasses, a hat and a scarf to protect your eyes and head.
• As you'll be at sea for a week, don't forget to take plenty of your usual medication and any other products you may need (charcoal or other). If you're sensitive to allergies, you'll need to bring along some medication (Zyrtec) and creams (sometimes the approach of fire corals and plankton can provoke allergies).
• A few water-resistant plasters may come in handy...
• For nights under the stars, the pillows and blankets in your cabins are at your disposal.
• Hearing protection (earplugs) may be useful... Likewise, sensitive persons should remember to bring earplugs for swimming.
• Headlamp or other flashlight for night-time travel. The generators will be switched off while you sleep, so the boat will be dimly lit.
• Towels for the week (inside/bathroom and outside/Quechua type) as, since the Covid, the boat no longer provides towels in cabins.
• Water bottle, which you can refill at the water fountains throughout the day.
• Good book, board games, etc.

What will the food be like ?

All meals are buffet-style, so there's plenty to satisfy vegetarians.

For those with gluten allergies, remember to bring your own rusks. More generally, if you have food intolerances, take your substitute foods, as it's hard to find these kinds of products in Egypt.

Can you guarantee I will see wildlife ?

Generally, Sataya is a dream destination for marine wildlife enthusiasts with abundant families of dolphins. While you will also have the opportunity to witness an incredible array of corals, including many different species of fish. 

Going on ethical encounters with experienced guides can ensure a well-planned experience. The more days you spend in the wilderness, the better are your chances of spotting diverse animals.

Safety mesures in the country ?

For stays of less than one month, an identity card (valid 6 months after the date of arrival) is sufficient.

! Egypt only accepts smart electronic identity cards.

On arrival, you'll pay €28 (cash) at the local agent's counter, or $25 (cash) at the local bank for the entry visa.
You can also purchase your visa online (E-Visa before departure).

If you are traveling with your ID card, without an International Passport: please take a recent photo of your personal passport with you.

For stays longer than one month: an International Passport is required, as well as an Entry Visa.

Deposits and cancellation policy ?

Deposits
You can secure your travel with a 30% deposit upon booking. The remaining 70% of the trip price is to be paid 90 days prior to departure, at the latest.

Cancellations
To secure your spot on one of our exclusive journeys, a 30% deposit is required at the time of booking. This deposit is fully refundable if you cancel within 48 hours of booking. After this 48-hour period, the deposit becomes non-refundable but can be transferred to another trip or date of your choice, subject to availability.

Once the full balance for the trip has been paid, it becomes non-refundable. However, if you need to cancel at least 60 days before the departure date, you can transfer the amount to another trip or date of your choice, subject to availability. If the new trip is more expensive, you will need to pay the difference. If the new trip is less expensive, please note that the difference will not be refunded.
